Beyond the board - where stories are shared and teachers are celebrated.

Before the morning bell rings, you can see every teacher gasping for breath as they walk up the stairs or run through the hallways to reach their desks and prepare for the day ahead. Assignments, classes, notebook corrections, reports, and more assignments are all part of the daily routine. The clock ticks like a time bomb, ready to explode every 40 minutes, as students flood the hallways after each class. With a smile and our shoulders carrying unexpected duties throughout the day, we quickly gulp down the cold coffee waiting on our desks and hurry to our classrooms to greet our students.

Each class demands careful preparation, clear lesson plans, and energetic teaching. We hope our late-night PPT edits help students grasp concepts, and we mentally brace for the many ways a lesson could unfold. Revising plans becomes routine as we discover what works best in class. Though overwhelming, the joy of teaching persists amid chaos.

A teacher takes on many roles each day, from counsellor and motivator to listener and problem solver. Over time, preparing emotionally for class becomes just as important as planning lessons. Every student is different, so we use a range of teaching approaches for the quiet ones, the disruptive ones, the enthusiastic ones, and those who suddenly improve. Even in a crowded classroom, our holistic approach helps us manage these challenges. It’s fair to say our teachers are like magicians, making difficult tasks look easy.

Along with everything else, we work with other teachers, sign up for professional development, and talk with parents to share how students are doing. AI might take over tasks like assessments, lesson planning, or even teaching, but it can’t replace the empathy we bring or the confidence we help build in our students. Teaching may look simple on paper, but creating a great classroom is much more than giving lectures and taking notes. Every teacher brings something unique and is the star of their own classroom.
